On May 17, 2022, a Submitter who requested their information to remain confidential, filed a Submission to the Secretariat for Environmental Matters of the Free Trade Agreement between the Dominican Republic, Central America, and the United States of America - DR-CAFTA (SEM), in which they assert that the Republic of El Salvador is allegedly failing to enforce its environmental legislation effectively.

In the submission identified as CAALA/22/001 Cerro el Afate - ES the submitter denounces the alleged violation of environmental laws in relation to the development of a housing project in Cerro el Afate.
